Roma dei Templi

The Roman scene mixes gods and emperors, and among the temples dedicated to the gods there are numerous temples dedicated to deified emperors.

The apotheosis, or deification, of an emperor began with the declaration of deification of Julius Caesar (100-44 BC). Upon the death of Augustus, 58 years later, he too received similar honors, becoming a model for future emperors.
